Blue Star – Amsonia


Amsonia tabernaemontana; Willow Amsonia, Blue Star, Blue dogbane. It is named for Dr. John Amson, a physician/traveler and Mayor of Williamsburg, VA in 1750.

The species is named after Jacob Theodor von Bergzabern (1590). It was latinized as tabernamontanus and translates as Tavern in the

Dogbane, (Apocynaceae).1500 species; about 400 genera.
